In October 1993, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago contracted the National Insurance Property Development Company Limited (NIPDEC) to manage the drug distribution system, on behalf of the Ministry of Health. To this end, a Pharmaceutical Division was created to oversee the Ministry's centralized warehousing facility at Chaguaramas.

The Ministry in an ongoing effort to provide easy access to Health Care Services has initiated the Chronic Disease Assistance Plan (CDAP) in 2003,to reduce the burden on the pharmacies and patient waiting time at the public health institutions. |
